Water Conservation

So I decided to start collecting rain water, and the first thing everyone asks is, "what are you going to do with all the water?" My response is to water the few herbs that we planted, which might take 5 gallons every couple days and the rest of the water in the 55 gallon barrel............any ideas?

  1. What a great idea!

You can use a "first flush diverter" so that the first few minutes or so of a rainstorm - the dirty, dusty water - doesn't end up in your barrel.

They say that rainwater is great for washing hair. I guess it depends on how hard your city water is. Rainwater is "soft".
